Lemon Mint Tea

Try this calming tea as the perfect way to cool down and relax after a long summer day at the park or beach!

Benefits of lemon mint tea:

Mint is a very calming and soothing herb that provides relief for allergies and can help with an upset stomach and indigestion. It is also an antimicrobial agent and helps freshen up breath. Adding lemon to this recipe increases Vitamin C intake and helps with weight loss. Lastly, honey adds antioxidants and helps in lowering blood pressure.

Ingredients:

  • 3-4 sprigs of fresh mint
  • 4 tablespoons of honey (add more or less for taste)
  • Juice of ½ a lemon
  • 1.25 liters of boiling water

Equipment:

A teapot of your choice with a tea strainer

Yield: 4 servings

Total Time: 5 minutes

Preparation:

Leaving out a few mint leaves as a garnish, take the rest of the mint springs and finely chop up the mint.

Squeeze the juice of half a lemon into the teapot while extracting any seeds you may encounter. Place the chopped up mint into the tea strainer and place it into the teapot.

   Pour the boiling water over the mint and fill until all of the mint had been covered.

Let the tea sit for 20 minutes, then add all of the honey to the mixture and stir.

You can drink the tea warm at this point or make an iced tea. Transfer the the liquid in the teapot to a pitcher and lit it sit in the refrigerator for 5 hours or overnight.

Finally pour yourself some tea in a glass, garnish with mint, and enjoy!
